World tensions were reviewed and solutions proposed by East and West yesterday. The gap between Chinese and Russian Communists widened while Yugoslavia and Russia appeared to settle differences after a warm Tito reception in Moscow.
At a three day ministerial council in Geneva disarmament talks, Krushchev denounces ultra revolutionaries and China while calling peaceful co operation and disarmament the sole path to world peace. He rejects China’s criticism of Cuba’s missile withdrawal and warns of a potential breach if criticism continues.
President Kennedy announced plans for additional regulations to curb non Communist shipping to Cuba within three weeks. He said the aim is to prevent Soviet rearmament and to verify missiles have been removed, while avoiding pledges on invasion.
Corporal J Coggan, 21, RM C college student, escaped unhurt when his Cessna overturned during landing at Canberra Airport. He was among six RM C cadets in training with the Canberra Aer Club. The aircraft swerved hit a runway light and ground topped, nosewheel sheared off, plane on its back with Coggan upside down in his harness. He freed himself, waited for crash tenders, was taken to hospital and later cleared. Labuan dispatch reports North Borneo districts free of rebel escape routes as troops press against the Northern Borneo National Army in Niah, Sipulin, and Tutong. Gen. Poett says about 250 rebels captured. estimated strength 2000, revolt described as elementary and poorly led.
The court rejects Mrs Herlinde Maria Brown's petition to nullify her marriage, recognizing the validity of her husband Dr Russell Brown's divorce decree granted in Mexico. The petition sought to challenge the Mexican decree as bigamy. The husband remarried shortly after the decree was issued.
A cloverless approach at the southern end of Kingy Avenue Bridge will open Monday morning. The dual carriageway underpass and a fly-over will speed traffic from Civic to Kingston and remove cross traffic and right angle intersections at the bridge south end. A National Capital Development Commission spokesman described the system.
A Bankstown Hospital doctor told the Hospital Board he would start in town on December 2 with a £2,500 yearly guarantee. He cancelled the arrangement for family reasons. Townspeople expected earnings up to £3,500. The NSW Hospitals Commission had threatened hospital closure. The board will review other applications and remains undeterred.

The Captain's Flat silver lead mine fire is extinguished. Inspector C Meyer said last night the smoke had ceased and the water supply remained unaffected. The blaze started Tuesday from an oxy welding spark that ignited timber supports in a shaft, prompting health concerns among residents. The mine had been closed nine months.
A tiny monoplane built by no Canberra men passed its final Department of Civil Aviation tests. Ron Pill of the Canberra Aero Club said the DCA inspector who flew the plane was impressed and awarded the Certificate of Airworthiness. It is the first plane of its type to gain a certificate in Australia. Builders are Messrs. W. Southwell and A. Powell. The plane named 8 Jones uses an air cooled four cylinder engine.
