A County Court jury in Melbourne was directed to acquit two young students charged with conspiring to sell LSD after the Crown failed to prove LSD was hallucinogenic.
In Perth Australia Justice Virtue sentenced 16 year old Philip Emil Fruet to death for the murder of 15 year old Denise Kaye Gardiner. Fruet stabbed the girl 54 times and fractured her skull with a vacuum cleaner in her lounge, after living on the same street for a decade. The judge stated no option but the law's penalty, though he doubted execution would be carried out.
Builder Zvonimir Steve Perkov, 31, of Andrews Street Watson, was acquitted yesterday by an ACT Supreme Court jury of falsely claiming good title to sell a 1963 Chevrolet and obtaining the Commonwealth Deas Pty Ltd car. The case, prosecuted by Deputy Crown Solicitor, heard details of a bill of sale to General Credits Finance Pty Ltd, with Justice Fox presiding.
A resident stated that garbage was collected from as early as 4:30 AM and expressed belief that the practice was not necessary.
