Government will outline full position at February meeting and defer Egypt trade commissioner appointment pending more information on office requirements.
A new Commonwealth season record for greasy merino fleece was set as Bradford bought six bales of Merriman's clip from Yass for 9140. Other Merriman lots sold at 29d 282d and 28d. Average Sydney wool price this week 17/13/11 per bale and 14.4d per lb. Total offering 13 249 bales with 11 058 sold at auction and 753 privately. Ninety bales of skin wools also sold.
London reports from Rome and Paris say Mussolini is ready to accept the Hoare Laval peace terms if no untoward events occur. Communiques note ambassadors received copies, with no immediate rejection shown. Debates at Geneva probe reactions while oil sanctions and broader strategy shape next moves.
London reports Geneva’s Manchester Guardian correspondent doubts a definite split among League powers in the coming days.
