P M Gorton to be modeled for wax bust in Canberra
A Queensland businessman arrived in Canberra to create a life size wax bust of Prime Minister Gorton after previously modeling figures of Sir Robert Menzies, Mr Wilson, and President Nixon. Director J Ian G Brown of Wax Museum Pty Ltd said about 400 hours of work would be needed, with the head carved in New Zealand and a real beard shadow achieved by shaving. He noted the process required measurements and photography, and revealed it was almost decided not to seek a lock of hair from the PM.

20000 trout fry stolen from Jindabyne hatchery
Police investigate the strange 1969 theft of about 20,000 brook trout fry from the Gaden trout hatchery at Jindabyne.
