Growth rate negative again for second quarter
The economy posted a negative growth rate for the second consecutive quarter with real output 2 percent lower than the September quarter last year. The price level rose about 6.4 percent in the year, with the implied deflator for gross nonfarm product up 21.5 percent for the year ended September. Incomes rose 1.3 percent that quarter while company incomes fell 1.79 percent. Imports grew 31.7 percent vs exports 16 percent, widening the gap in trade.
