Passengers Jump as Plane Skids on Runway Crash
A Pan Am Boeing 707 skidded 250 yards on the east west runway at Muscat Airport in severe mud and tipped onto its port wing after a flock of seagulls was sucked into both port engines. Two passengers were hospitalized for shock. Pilot Captain Wayne Paulson braked then used full reverse thrust, the crew and 126 passengers plus 11 crew escaped into the mud as engines exploded with flames none, but smoke rose from under the aircraft.

Crown not acting against Dr Alwyn in inquest case
The Crown decided not to proceed against Dr Alwyn Stacey Alwyn of Rivett Street Hackett on a charge of felonious slaying Jean Mavis Minter.
