Night air raid over London and southern England

Six hours of bombing by about a hundred aircraft disrupted London with searchlights and anti aircraft fire. At least 46 raiders were shot down, fifteen British planes were lost, and several towns including Portsmouth faced heavy raids with fires. The attack produced widespread power of defence, hospital evacuations, and continued theatre and transport activity despite the danger.

British Naval Attack on Italian Bases Reported

A Cairo dispatch says British naval forces attacked Bardia and a Dome seaplane base. The harbour at Bardia was entered and targets attacked at close range with no ship casualties. Italian planes bombed Bir Sheferqan Sidi Barrani and hit a British convoy in the Eastern Mediterranean.

Germany loses two seaplanes in Tromso raid

A Sunderland flying boat of Coastal Command attacked enemy air units at Tromso on Sunday night. It sank two Heinkel 115 floatplanes at anchor and set a third on fire, damaging others. The mission also hit five supply ships and three fuel depots in Tromso Sound and Harbour before resuming reconnaissance.
