Survivors rescued as storm hampers search off New South Wales

Three Charged On Mail Theft In Queanbeyan
Colin Condon and Stuart Williams, both Queanbeyan residents, were remanded to August 29 by Clerk G L Jones on charges of stealing mail bags containing 92 000. They faced alleged thefts on August 19 of packets carrying 58 000 and 34 000, property of the Postmaster General, and other related offences. A third man, Henry Condon, 47, of Cambridge Park, was remanded at Penrith on a separate charge of receiving 80 887 stolen Postmaster General funds, bail set at 400.

Pay packet gains follow Australia earnings rise
Average weekly earnings in Australia for the last financial year were 68 90, up from 64 30. From the June quarter 1968 to June quarter 1969 earnings increased from 65 90 to 71 40. All-industries index up 8.5 percent, manufacturing up 7.3 percent, with seasonally adjusted indexes also higher. Statistics Bureau released the figures yesterday.
