Plane crash near Bankstown claims three lives

Japan plans major expansion of military forces

Tokyo reports a defence plan to increase Japan land forces to 180000 men within four years, with expanded naval and air power. Escape From Lock-up In Police Car

Roy Dari Adama, about 33, held on a burglary charge, escaped from the lock-up and stole a police car. Police say the key remained at the station and he was recently brought back from Sydney to Canberra to face the charge. He has no fixed address and is described as an itinerant.
