Holiday blackout threats loom for Sydney workers

The Government will not declare next Monday a public holiday for Electricity Commission employees. Minister Renshaw warned unions threatening to stop work that the arbitration act could be used. He noted a prior agreement with the Commission, renewed four months ago, does not include Bank Holiday, with compensation via higher pay and better conditions for those workers. He urged all unions to honor the agreement and keep electricity supplies steady.
