Nica Crew Safe After Freighter Fire In Indian Ocean

The Italian freighter Nica, abandoned in flames in the Indian Ocean near the Andaman Islands, remains alight as the crew of 25 abandon ship. Captain Marano reported to Penang authorities that all crew members are safe except one injured sailor who is not a stretcher case.

Daring Theft From Wharf at Circular Quay

Police probe a weekend theft at Sydney Circular Quay Wharf where more than £5,000 of cigarettes and tobacco were stolen from a teargoature bound for Tasmania. U N Arbitration On Canal Likely

Cairo dispatch says Egypt will likely deposit a document with the United Nations accepting arbitration between the Suez Canal Authority and Canal users. It would also accept a UN advisory council of technical experts, while toll payments remain non concessional. Raiders strike across border in Northern Ireland blast

The Irish Republican Army attacked Northern Ireland targets on the eve of Sinn Fein’s 1926 Easter living anniversary. A policeman was severely wounded by a booby trap bomb at a water-tower in Cluntoe County Tyrone. Raiders also tried to set fire to a Londonderry Customs building. a customs officer intervened and fire crews contained the blaze.
