Canadian journalist Norman Phillips, 45, says his Durban Gaol expulsion stems from South Africa’s racial groups. He calls the Broederbond a South African Ku Klux Klan and cites three possible arrest reasons under apartheid rules. The Toronto Star reports police confiscated and reconstructed part of its Durban dispatch.

Sydney report states a twin engine Cessna piloted by Capt. Geo i and a passenger crash landed at Mascot airport after circling for hours to burn fuel. The starboard undercarriage failed to lock and the emergency strip was prepared as the crew ran low on fuel. Both occupants escaped unhurt.

Britain’s new 40,000 ton liner Oriana is provisionally insured at Lloyds for £15 million, the largest marine insurance on a single hull. The amount tops the £13.0 million insured on the United States liner United States, formerly the record.
