The A C Advisory Council held a farewell gathering at Hotel Civic last night. Notable attendees included Sydney Mr J James, Director of Works, and Dr LJ Wianl along with Mrs. Huane.
The British Ellerman Line freighter City of Sydney rescued 1300 migrants from the Skaubryn 800 miles from Aden after a fire erupted aboard. The ship departed Bremerhaven for Australia with many German migrants and newlyweds. Passengers were taken to Aden as the City of Sydney stood by the smoldering wreck.
