Edmonton inquest into cyclists death near Hambledon Mill
An Edmonton coroner's court heard how Charles Frederick Clark died on June 14 1945 from a skull fracture after his bicycle collided with a military truck on Hambledon road. Driver Private Robinson claimed Clark rode into the truck and may have been blinded by headlights. The post mortem cited a skull fracture and respiratory failure. Witnesses including Robinson Gordon Evans and Edward James Mateen testified about the encounter near Hambledon Hotel and the lack of a lamp on Clark’s bike. The coroner ruled the death accidental.
