Road policy debate shapes future of state transport
In Brisbane on September 18 the Lewislanve Assembly debated roads policy. Ministers clashed over a bill clause allowing the Minister to approve or disallow road grant allocations, seen as political interference. Proposals aimed to protect already spent funds while ensuring upkeep beyond rail priorities. Minister McCormack argued for a future policy prioritizing roads and greater Board attention, warning against overreliance on rail.
