Sugar Pioneer Death of Horace Young
Horace Young a director at Fairymend Star Sugar Company Limited and a key figure in Bundaberg district sugar work has died at the bam on Ind October. He helped expand manufacturing from cane to white sugar and promoted industry associations in the Australian Sugar trade. His brother Ernest Young and other relatives survive. He served in WWI, contributed to broader sugar industry issues, and supported Australian Church work and women’s hospitals.
