De Seversky’s 50 Year Vision of Flight And Space Travel

Major Alexander B. de Seversky predicts aviation will render railways buses and tracks obsolete within 50 years. He envisions atomic powered planes enabling world circumnavigation in 12 hours at 100000 feet, with speeds limited inside Earth's atmosphere to prevent disintegration. He foresees smaller commercial planes averaging 30 passengers and questions the need for luxury amenities on future craft.
