Weathered town recounts flood toll plus wartime notices
A fragmented account details storms near Wetey Creek and G.W. Swamp causing rain, damage, and power issues. It notes mail delays to Cairns, ambulance and hospital committee meetings, and community life with dances, treasurer gifts, and veterans’ welcome home. Mentions tin mining water shortages, town water plant shifts, and local figures like Mr Ken Cornford and Mr Albert Hall.
