London Oct 2 The Evening Standard reports Sir William and Sir Reginald Rootes owners of the Rootes Motor Group will offer 1 250 000 shares valued at over 11 million pounds to existing shareholders to cover death duties. They say the sale is necessary to protect the business workers and families though it ends their long term growth plans. The Rootes Group builds Human Humber Sunbeam Talbot cars and employs about 20 000, with plants in Britain Australia and interests in India Belgium Africa and Argentina.
The debate on a bill to amend Section 41 to empower Parliament to regulate prices was adjourned. Senator McKenna warned inflation had not yet ended and the government faced rapid deterioration in the economy.
Jakarta reports an all out offensive by the Indonesian Army Air Force and Navy surrounding Ambon as units invade several points. General Kawilarang leads operations begun September 26 amid resistance from the South Moluccans who refuse to join Indonesia.

French officials in Saigon withheld confirmation.
New York October 4 General MacArthur will act decisively to enforce terms if North Korea does not give a satisfactory reply. United Press president Mr Hughes Ballie, returning from Korea, said MacArthur will not break commitments and fears Communists. He outlined that the next actions are already planned.
Authorities report two men, Ronald Edgar aged 38 and James Easton aged 60, found dead in separate locations. Edgar was discovered near a shed after a hunting trip, with a shotgun present. Easton was found in an outhouse with fatal head injuries and suspected explosives in his mouth.
One of the new Beyer Garratt locomotives derailed at the Mayne yards in Brisbane but was replaced within an hour. Officials blamed a faulty track switch for the incident. The derailed front bogie occurred as the engine, moving at six miles per hour, crossed the points where two other point sets were involved.
The Australian Minister for External Affairs Mr P C Spender urged today in Lake Success that the North Korean army be utterly destroyed as a fighting force to prevent further aggression. The Daily Telegraph reports Britain's gold and dollar reserves in the sterling area rose to 2.736 billion dollars on September 30 from 2.427 billion in June and 3.6 billion on March 31. Officials warn reserves remain inadequate and valuation debates were not being seriously studied.
U S officials say the Formosa mission’s withdrawal is a military measure with no political aims. The unit, established by General MacArthur, sought to assess island defense needs. State Department officials deny any pressure to end the mission.
