At the Nuremberg War Crimes Tribunal the verdicts were delivered for 21 accused. Goring was found guilty on all four counts, Hess on two counts, Ribbentrop and Keitel on all counts. All reactions were subdued as the judgments were pronounced.

About 4400 votes counted with 10,000 to 15,000 outstanding.
In Zagreb on September 30 the three man People s Court began the trial of Archbishop Stepinac Catholic Primate of Jugoslavia. A 51 page indictment accuses him of collaborating with the enemy and the Ustachi organization. He appears with co defendants whose trials were adjourned after evidence involving Stepinac.
Union committee votes 12 to 5 to add a clause to the draft treaty enabling Italy to grant the United Nations rights to land and overfly Italian territory for non commercial uses on a reciprocal basis. Russia objects to blanket restrictions and argues for bilateral deals. India New Zealand and Poland abstain amid similar positions.
October 1 at Gladstone the Rockhampton goods train collided with a meter car near the railway station. In the car were Francis George Axelton, his wife Alice Maud Axelton, and their child Christopher Kennedy. The husband driver died of critical injuries. the child and wife died instantly under wreckage.
In Brisbane in October the council discussed raising aldermen allowances from 400 to 500 pounds and boosting officials pay. A vice mayor would get 2800 pounds, committee chair 80, and the Lord Mayor salary and allowance would rise to 1500 and 1500 respectively. Ald Moon argued full-time service leaves little after taxes and costs.
Townsville dispatch reports the Seaman's Union lifted a ban on the vessel Cora after a dispute at Jetty Wharf. Details scarce, but authorities confirmed the action ends the prohibition pending further review. The incident sparked debate over dockside safety standards and union control.
