In Cairns Summons Court Lena Ma Toescs pursued George Delia Bosca for wife desertion. Bosca’s dated testimony recounts visits to Gordonvale and Lucinda Point, financial aid to family, house improvements, a clash with a constable, and ongoing friction over fidelity, finances, and household management.
Roy Hobbs, engine-driver for the C S R Company, says he knew the defendant for four years and saw him after 5 15 pm on the night Mrs Besca and her daughter left Lucinda Point. He describes the defendant as calm and sober, not visibly affected by drinks, and notes he saw him up to 10 pm without change in condition.
Walter McDonagh testified as a wat erside worker at Lucinda Point and described visits to the Bosca household from last spring. He said parties with Mr Bosca and others occurred most months, with meals, dancing, and cards but no liquor problems observed by him. The case ended with the Police Magistrate dismissing the information and no costs awarded.
