Mystery Chinaman Players and a Night of Gambling
A police court hearing describes a Saturday evening gathering where a group of Chinese men and others played cards and dice in a room, with a dealer who later identified a Chinaman near the death of a party. Witnesses recount observing a table full of gaming gear, notes of money and coins, and mentions of a Chinese banker among the participants. The defendant defends the gambling as common in those places and claims the actions were not unusual.
