The BarRon Shire Council met Monday with Chair Dr E A Atherton and Councillors O'Donnell Matthieson Hudson Fenwick, and Clerk A J Draper present. Debates covered road repairs offered by Double Island hotel owner, a delay on a Kitchener memorial, a Cairns Redlynch telephone link approval, a gravel road work grant, and a Birds in Schools education gesture. Also discussed were timing for a foreign labor concern and timber protection along roads. Police court notes followed with multiple Japanese defendants fined for common gaming house offenses and related penalties.
