Teamsters Move Toward Saw Mill Coop to Boost Timber Prices
A Atherton meeting of log haulage teams discussed forming a cooperative to establish a saw mill and an agent in the South to dispose of logsawn timber. Board members were named to obtain cost estimates, capital plans, and flotation details, aiming to raise about £15,000 with fifty teams joining. The group pledged not to sell timber until the new cooperative reaches over a million super feet monthly, with shares expected to cost around £50 each. Ballygum logs for mills were also debated, with a high price floor set to cover haulage costs.
