Main Roads visit as Ingham requests details
Mr J B Kemp Main Roads Commissioner D J Garland and J M Fraser arrived at Ingham to inspect district progress. They visited Halifax and the bridge site washed away in February 1927, discussed the Main Roads amendment, and announced plans for a Halifax bridge before the next financial year. The party urged linking Lucinda with Halifax and considered tourist road assistance. Kemp refused immediate Ravenshoe Townsville road backing, stressing branch roads feeding main routes. The council was urged to align with Main Roads policy ahead of Mt Fux visit.
