Tobacco industry approach to grower relief and policy
A Breezy summary of meetings in Mareeba and Brisbane discusses tobacco industry issues. It notes a Brisbane board report on facilities and costs, calls for a definite arbitration and expenses, and outlines tentative grower arrangements. It mentions timely shipments, quarantine of sprays, and department actions to support farmers while noting limited civilian access to certain chemicals. The report references officials including Mr Henderman and various agriculture ministers and committees, with plans for observer reports and extensions to supply orders for growers. The narrative highlights industry representation by brokers and grower associations seeking remnant relief under Primary Produce organizations, plus ongoing fertility and pest research inquiries.
