Allied Works Council Finds Mica Riches in Northern Territory Fields
A report details mica mining in the Plenty River area near Harte Ranges during WWII. The Allied Works Council organized camps at Alice Springs, built roads and a main shaft, and developed muscovite deposits despite harsh conditions. Miners from Victoria and Western Australia aided development, with a focus on aviation plug production and water-boring for supplies.
