Australian Chamber Congress Ends With Trade Policy Debates
Hobart reports the Associated Chambers of Commerce Congress concluded with calls to tighten imperial trade links and push a preferential tariff to favor Australian imports. Delegates urged joint pressure on Britain and Commonwealth governments, discussed wartime commodity controls, and elected W. T. Appleton as president for the coming year, with Melbourne and Brisbane chambers also appointing officers.
