Frank Richardson was indicted for stealing seven pounds from John Allen’s dwelling on September 30. He pleaded guilty after the Crown opened its case. Agnes, an employee on the Cecil Rhodes, testified Richardson boarded with her about nine days, staying from about 1 pm to midnight, with gaps when she stepped out. The principal events occurred while he was present and the money was purportedly taken.
In a court transcript the witness denies accusing her husband of taking money on October 1 and asserts she did not tell the court that afternoon. She says she did not visit the jail to see the accused but came to see him for no specific reason and only looked through.
