The Cairns Shire Council meets with Dr. G B Mayers reelected chairman for the year. The meeting discusses the Mulgrave River bridge to aid Aloomba farmers, council asks SR Co and Mulgrave Mill for cooperation, and defers some motions while evaluating sanitary and educational matters and local reports.
At the last board meeting the chairman clarified the Cairns Shire Council’s position on transferring the lease to the Cairns Harbour Board. The council requires ratepayers on the opposite side to have access to the site. once the Harbour Board agrees to provide access, the transfer will be agreeable. Mr Hill was informed of the council’s stance. The meeting also referred matters about road works and access to nearby farms, and committees were appointed for finance, works, and health matters with Dr Knowles reappointed Health Officer.
