Fragmented wartime notes on rail travel and trade upheavals
A garbled OCR fragment discusses postwar transport and insurance issues, rubber pricing, Belgium tourism coupons, and a mix of maritime and railway anecdotes. It mentions Australia, Braglane fines, a £35 000 deal, and a relic of radical trade concerns, interwoven with references to rail travel disruptions and ex servicemen adjusting to peacetime economies.

Chankees Annual Meeting Highlights Economic Troubles
Chankee annual meeting on June 19 reviewed a year marked by industrial troubles and global economic woes. President A V Crees noted the Mase rman district’s dry year of 1946 limiting cane production to 162 060 fans while rice payment supported by a 6/10 ton cane price provided some relief. The group foresaw limited relief until postwar peace, with progress in road and bridge projects, a new Mossman to Cairns highway section, and a rebuilt Foxton bridge. They endorsed the Mossman district booklet, tourism growth, federation links, and a new North Queensland Federation of Chambers. The year closed with plans for improved public services and greater chamber activity in 1947.
