Soldier Welfare Conference Seeks Postwar Aid and Reforms
The conference urged badges for officers to distinguish ranks and a postal ballot for electing office bearers in state and sub-branches. Proposals include six weeks’ notice to wards, by-laws barring politically active league members from executive roles, abolition of discharge certificates as security, higher pay for settled soldiers, exemptions from Citizen Forces training, free railway passes, and preference for discharged soldiers in military positions. Deserters’ names to be published, and speakers argued the league is non political while pressing vital soldier interests.

Returned Soldiers League urged unity in repatriation drive
The conference pressed a policy of no party alignment and infinite aid to returned soldiers. It urged a citizen’s rights over charity, backed direct taxation for repatriation funding, and praised Mr Stevenson for guiding RSSNA efforts.
