Nations Must Save Or Sink In Status

Sir Josish Stamp warned at a Blackpool luncheon that a democracy which cannot compel the wealthy to save or invest will slowly sink in evolution. He urged workers to provide capital to raise productivity, noting Britain’s total annual savings target of 700 million is unmet due to high taxation, weak incentive, and large death duties. He pointed to new saving schemes like National Savings Certificates and building societies as hopeful measures.
