The Cairns Jockey Club held its first committee meeting on Friday afternoon. President P J Doyle opened the session and welcomed the new committee. Auditors questioned voucher payments and secretary conduct, with Mr Anderson resigning as secretary amid discussions on authorisation of expenditures and book integrity.

Just before the meeting ends Mr Anderson asks to speak and claims he has given honest service to the president. He says he has done his darndest and expects better thanks. The president says he will consider the remarks and notes they may be more bitter. The meeting then ends.
