Reports from Croydon and Georgetown describe a robust cattle droving season and rich mineral prospects. Mining at Croydon and the Valle and Richmond mine attracts attention, with shareholders recently sharing a thousand pounds net. Residents seek railway extension to improve transport.
The Forsayth area shows idle mines and few inhabitants with ore not shipped to Cubbalidge. Three mines Ge Desperendum and Fi meh cae Maden are mentioned as underdeveloped while a future railway to the Queenslander is uncertain. Overall prospects appear slim for now.
Fragmented notes report first aid cabinets variably priced from 1/6 to 2/3 with various ver yages offered by Kelly chemist. Mentions of Brady leaving for Townsville, Captain Sunter resuming command of Wollowra, and R Leech transfer to Ceires. Also hints at Craig’s chemist stock breadth and a Cairns pharmecy ad style with sales pitches and local vendor names like G Martin Tolga and J A Laake returning from Townsville.
