Council Deliberations on Main Roads and Local Funding
The Callan Shire Council discussed main road establishment, funding over 30 years, and solo costs for surveys. A conference with Cairns district chairmen was proposed to query the Main Roads Board, while works committees handle a road from Sawmill Pocket and updates on Superintendent Obey’s report covering Freshwater Bridge to Redlynch and associated crossings. Found rates of 437/9d were collected. Gordonvale licenses and compensation matters were noted as ongoing.
