Town Hall funds to gain 78 percent of proceeds from a Lightning Football and Basketball Carnival at the Racecourse on Monday 29 October Eight Hours Day. The War Memorial Committee receives 25 percent. Burra clubs organise a full day of football basketball and athletics with many visiting teams and local entries. Burra Superstition Ball Raises Funds For Burra Hospital
The Burra Town Hall hosted the first Superstition Ball in years with a ladder passage, decorative umbrellas, red crosses and cats. Darrel Field's Orchestra played as R A Bevan MC'd and a sumptuous supper fundraised £26 13s 0d split between Palm Star representatives Lana Turner and Maureen O'Hara. Artful competitions and dancing continued to 2 am.

Burra Show Entries Freely Reported By Secretary
Mr H. M. Scott secretary of the Burra Show says entries are coming in freely for the event to be held on Saturday Week in Lith October. The committee is preparing the grounds and this year most trade exhibits will be indoors rather than in marquees. Sheep and cattle yards have been cleaned and repaired and are in good shape. Exhibitors are urged to lodge entries as soon as possible. closing dates are advertised in this issue.
