The front portion of Mes HL Jennison's car was badly damaged when it struck several heaps of road metal on Emelia road on Wednesday afternoon. The vehicle was traveling toward Burra from Burra North when the collision occurred at the end of the bitumenised section, bending the radiator grille mudguard and possibly the front suspension.

Dance Great Success Despite Bad Weather

A large crowd attended Friday night at the Showground in the pavillion for a dance despite poor weather. Mrs Foster helped arrange badminton club provisions and a novelty statue was won by Mr and Mrs Bob White. Tickets were sold by Syd Williams with Alan Rosewall as doorkeeper. The society thanks the slope men of the town for assistance and Mr W J Thomas for cement troughs and vases.

Burra Market Sells Over 9000 Sheep in Strong Sale

Elder, Smith & Co. report a large monthly market at Burra with 9725 sheep yarded and strong demand from outside districts. Eastern Pastoral Country consignments, excellent selection of shorn sheep, and high prices overall, with most stock sold to other parts of the State. Continued discussion on page four.

Glenelg Defeats Sturt Tigers in Close Memorial Oval Match

On Sunday afternoon at Memorial Oval Glenelg and Sturt Tigers from Glenelg Baseball Club played a tight contest. A crowd attended and a collection raised £4 19s 0d for Ayeround equipment, organized by Burra Pro- EEGs Atendation. Glenelg led until the final innings, finally winning 8 to 7 as Sturt Tigers were held to three runs in the last stretch.

The Premier will perform the ceremony in Burra with officials including the Chief Secretary, Dr J Wip, and Mr A R Downer among others present. Invitations were sent to contributors and the public is invited to attend the milestone event marking hospital improvements and new facilities for nurses and patients.

Burrs Homing Club conducted a race from Tinthaors last Saturday, covering 108 miles in about three hours. P J Byrnes claimed first place with 3 yards per minute, followed by J Reed at 1,268 yards per mente. Next Saturday's race will again start from Tintimara.

Booborowie Clinches Snowy Region Football Victory

Booborowie secured a clear cut win over Hallett in a low scoring clash at Booborowie on Saturday. The finish featured a late surge by Booborowie with 83 to 0? final tally and the crowd erupted as Hallett’s chances faded. Burra Colts edged to a tense grand final win with a 5-0 scoreless last quarter abandoned.
