Increased gate receipts noted as the Ausual Burra show at the Showgrounds on Saturday proceeds with a mixed day. Spectators praised cooperation from stewards and judges, while reports say side shows were fewer yet more numerous this year. A detailed prize list appears on pages T and B of this issue.

Hallett district clerk retires after long service. The Hallett Council met on Saturday and tabled two applicant dossiers for the district clerk post with a view to selecting a replacement early next year.
About 20 members met to discuss the town Christmas carnival. Plans include fundraising, volunteers, and venue at the Community Centre. The carnival would run for children up to age ten, with amplification arranged, and a request for council permission and extra funding. The Burra Town Council offered limited support, while local business groups considered involvement.
