Burra Town Council Hears Tender and Bank Talks
Burra Town Council met September 28 in the Council Chambers. The mayor and six councillors reviewed correspondence from Burra Electric Supply Co and the Highways Department about a new street light, a £400 main roads grant with £100 council cash, and £60 for district road maintenance. The Bank of Australasia mortgage on Town Hall stood at £3,172 with discussions on signing the new mortgage and its terms. Debate over interviewing the bank preceded agreement. The council also considered tenders for lopping gum trees to Victoria Park and noted that all tenders had been handled per standing orders, with discussions on remuneration and handling with the RSL. Transfers of property were mentioned.
