The Council announces a tree planting drive to be successful with ratepayer cooperation. The Council will supply trees and handle artwork. residents must water and care for them until established. Limited number of trees available. interested ratepayers should contact the Town Clerk promptly.
The Annual Meeting of the Burra High School Parents and Friends Association will be held on March 18 at 2:45 pm at the school. A Burra Branch meeting will occur March 10 at 2:20 pm in the Rest Rooms for final race luncheon arrangements. Good attendance and membership carry responsibility as well as privilege.
A general meeting of the Kooringa Tennis Club will be held in the Kooringa Church Vestry on Tuesday March 15 at 7 45 p m All members and supporters are urged to attend.
At Burra Hospital on 8 March a daughter was born to Flora and Alex. Pauline Margaret is welcomed with thanks to Dr W E Steven and the Burra Hospital staff.
The Minister and Director of Education visited schools to review classes and facilities. They discussed yard work lavatories painting seating and new classrooms while noting labor shortages and economic limits. A thrifty talk by V Neviway urged penny bank participation and savings awards. Sports results include Tennis Drusey 8 Steele 26 and softball Draysey 26 vs Bredall.
A flexible fabric testing device from England will be installed at CSIR's Woo Textile Research Section in Geelong. Samuel Denison and Son Ltd of Leeds designed the machine to apply up to 1200 pounds to fabrics, with results read on a dial or chart for later analysis.
