Diet and Teeth Warn of Countrywide Dental Decay
An honorary dentist at a Lord Mayor's camp in Portsea Victoria warns that Australians rot their teeth from diet and neglect. At a camp of 286 children only one had perfect teeth. extractions and fillings are common, and several youths already need artificial dentures. He urges parents to fix diets with wholesome natural foods and to practice regular brushing after meals to remove food particles and prevent fermentation. He notes Australia consumes the most sugar per capita and contrasts with Italy and China. He promotes sugar reduction and prefers honey for sweetening. He condemns ignorance and urges action to protect children's health and the nation.
