Town Council Considers Unimproved Land Values For Rates
Burra Town Council met to study switching from rental values to unimproved value as the rate base. Dr Marston said finances were poor and urged fair treatment. Analyses showed higher potential revenue from unimproved values versus current rental taxation. The council agreed to seek further information, poll ratepayers if needed, and write to departments for guidance. Nearby councils already use unimproved values.

Wool Load Sets Record on Eight-Wheel Tray Truck
A Ford Diesel owned by Mr J. G. Carpenter delivered a 50 bale wool load, likely the largest ever on a single tray motor truck in Burta. The wool came from Braemar Station owned by A. J. and P. A. McBride Ltd. The eight-wheel back axle design maximized load over driving wheels. The truck cost 50d to Mr Carpenter via Ford Agents Messrs J. O. Denton and H. J. B. Jennison.
