The Burra Municipal Council met on Monday July 1954 in the Council Chambers. Minutes were adopted. Mayoral allowance set at 70 pounds. Council to form Assessment Revision and Finance Committees for 1954/55. Cr Carpenter elected chairman. meetings fixed for 1st and 3rd Mondays at 7.30 pm. Overdraft of 2800 pounds approved. authority given to sign cheques with countersignature by Town Clerk. Council appointments to Burra High School Council and Burra Hospital Board discussed. Public Works matters included road work, drainage, and tree planting proposals.
