Jewel Thief With Wings In Miami Case Ends With Bird Heist
In Miami during January 1933 a $200,000 necklace and a $100,000 wristwatch vanished from Mrs Courtney Van Heusen. Police suspected an inside job until an insurance investigator traced the jewels to a jackdaw. The bird, attracted by sunlit glitter, flew in, dragged items to its nest, where a later pickup recovered all items. Chauffeur Williams faced blame but was exonerated and rehired with a bonus after the bird’s theft explained the case.
