Gaskells Say Farewell From Hallett District

After nearly three years the Memorial Gates at the Recreation Ground entrance are completed. Erected as a district tribute to World War II servicemen they stand on massive pillars marking the oval entrance. The gates will be officially opened soon by the State President of the REL.

Train sparked two grass fires near Hanson on morning run

A goods train reportedly started two grass fires between Burra and Parrel Plain near Hanson on Thursday morning. The first blaze charred about half an acre and was kept under control by the train crew. a second fire a mile away was also traced to the engine. Mr Ian Richardson transferred from the Burra Branch of Messia Goldsbrough Mort and Co to Keith. Richard son will manage the Burra centre. The Richardsons, longtime town residents, supported local welfare and Mr Richardson served as president of the Burra RSI and led roles in the Women’s Auxiliary of the RBI.
