The Bucci Women's Fire Fighting Auxiliary held its annual meeting in the C. WA Rest Room on 18th December 1998 with President Mrs Riggs presiding. Attendance was small and notes were received from Mesdames J. cel M. dncia and C. Bulley.
An inquest in Saran Burrey province concluded a 70 year old woman died after a pet dog attack was ruled a probable accident. The coroner noted the dog’s behavior and storage conditions as contributing factors.
A grassland fire blackened over two thousand acres at Ulooloo on Mr Gwen-Smyth's property Saturday afternoon after a lightning flash. A strange scene on New Year’s day in Burra North shows a pole hanging over the street near Messrs Same & Co’s store. Onlookers watched as a tentacle of string and makeshift garlands wrapped the pole above the pavement, a repeat prank by local youths.
