Beautiful weather aided the Ladies Guild annual fete in Leighton to support Leighton Hall. Held Saturday November 29, the event drew good attendance as Mrs T J Bailey opened ceremonies. The Hall Committee President J J Warnes noted past pioneers and praised the ladies for keeping finances sound while expanding hall facilities.

The fete opening in Leighton featured Mrs Bailey receiving a hearty welcome to inaugurate the event. Farrells Flat Ladies Vigilance Committee Disbands

At the Institute on Tuesday afternoon November 25 the Ladies Vigilance Committee voted to disband after nine years of fundraising to build supper rooms and a library. Mrs Denton led the past four to five years as secretary with credit for the supper rooms and library. The group has made a final payment to Institute funds and will enjoy a well earned rest. The issue recalls earlier discussion about dangerous night shooting of hares on public roads and a successful strawberry fete fundraiser in aid of the Jen Lennis club with stalls, music, and a dance. Local tennis club results from Saturday list various doubles and singles outcomes and handicaps for men women and mixed entries.
