Roads Boards Meeting Adopts Fortnightly Sessions at Bridgetown

Revenue and road tenders noted in local council report

The secretary reported monthly revenue of £18 with licences and registrations tallying 172 cut and carriage licenses and 84 dogs. A government grant of £18 18s 3d leaves £187 balance in the Warren bridge special account. Tenders were opened for a road project about a mile and a half below Mr Wheatley and for a No section on Wheatley’s stead.

Timber Industry Conference To Be Held In Banbury

Speaking on the timber industry Mr Tesdale Smith warns that export trade losses could force closures of mills unless freights and sharfage rates are reduced. He cites wage disparities with Eastern States and urges arbitration court action for wage cuts and longer hours. Several mills have already closed and a conference between Combine representatives and union delegates is planned for Sunday.
