The region logged over an inch of rain along the coast yesterday as a system drifts inland. Light to moderate showers are expected to continue with Great Southern Mos reporting lingering conditions and a chance of extended rainfall inland.
The Minister for Works will arrive tomorrow to discuss harbour plans with the Harbour Board at 2 pm and civic reception at 3:45 pm before evening deputations. Bunbury traders, shipping and progress associations will meet him Thursday at 7 pm. The Bunbury Municipal Council plans a deputation on four requests including enabling motor bus service, reclaiming Queen's Gardens to Meredith Creek, leasing land for private homes, a £500 cemetery loan, and cold storage works to boost apple exports and lamb shipments.
Large attendance at the Madurai of the lay Mr Henry Hubert Edwards, a well known veterinary surgeon. The funeral was held at Une Buobury Cemetery with pallbearers and floral tributes from colleagues, family, and local officials. The Rev D Y Whalley officiated.
A Bedford Hall program on Friday features a two part drama The Judgment and a society life comedy The Lar of the Pootituhts plus topical items like The Australian Gynette and Simon the Mar gorrespondell. Witness Ash discussed prior fruit fly battles and the Department’s efforts to eradicate the pest, while Mr Money defended compliance with the act and the measures taken at Harvey orchards to prevent spread.
Barker a 14 year old boy from Ban Harker, Albany, slipped from a 100 foot cliff into water near Torbay. His companion Patrick Karanagie aided him, summoned help, and he was brought to Albany hospital with a fractured leg and a broken jaw. Miracle spared worse injuries.
